I love making and using my own DIY recipes whenever possible. There are fewer toxins, unreadable ingredients and chemicals. I recently decided it was time to give making my own dishwashing soap and deodorizing spray a try.

By adding essential oils to a few simple ingredients, voilà… you can eliminate toxins and save money at the same time.

1 c distilled water
2 tablespoons white distilled vinegar
1 c Dr. Bronner’s Sal Sud’s
2 tablespoons almond, jojoba or fractionated coconut oil for moisture
Option 1: Add 10 drops of On Guard®
Option 2: Add 10 drops of Citrus Bliss®
Option 3: Add 10 drops of Peppermint
Add all ingredients to glass bottle and shake gently to mix before each use. I like to use a pump top on my bottles, but any kind of top will do.
*Tip: When you are making your own dish soap, make an extra dish soap pump bottle and give it to a teacher or a friend as a fun thank you gift or pick-me-up.
Add 1 c distilled water to a glass spray bottle.
Option 1: Add 8 drops of Purify and 8 drops of Lavender to a spray bottle – this recipe is great for deodorizing linens.
Option 2: Add 8 drops Purify and 8 drops of Eucalyptus to a spray bottle – this recipe is great for deodorizing mattresses and pillows.
These DIY deodorizing sprays can help fight unwanted pests and keep your home healthy with great, natural alternatives. Shake well before use.
